Weeknotes 27: just knackered
-
The last few weeks have been pretty brutal for sleep quality. The toddler has been unwilling to sleep alone since she was sick weeks ago so Nanda has been sleeping (at least initially) beside her. This always means sleeping late because having a parent to nag and talk to is more fun than sleeping. The naps are a mess, and add in a baby waking overnight/early plus some other illnesses and it’s a recipe for tiredness overall.
We really need to get back to her sleeping alone but with a period of upheaval coming up (moving countries plus a vacation to Brazil) we don’t really have a stretch of time to focus on it. So for now we’re just knackered.

We’re in Zürich. We’ll be here for a few days to register as residents and get the keys for our apartment. Nanda will then go to Brazil with the kids and I’ll go back to the UK to deal with the movers. The house stuff will be a slog but probably nothing compared to handling the kids for 3 weeks.
The flight was gruelling and the day was long but the kids did well. I’m going to bed at 8.30pm.

I expected leaving the house to feel sad — Nanda and the kids will never go back there — but in the end getting ready and out in time was so manic there wasn’t space for anything else. It is sad, though; despite our life in the UK not working out as we hoped it was our home and we generally loved living in the house. We made lots of good memories there. I suppose they live on even if we don’t live there now.

Zürich is unwinterly warm. Like everywhere I guess?

We got a pizza from Dieci and it was great as usual.
