Weeknotes 31: seemingly endless pile of boxes
-
Erm, let’s see.

Most of the week was taken up with unpacking the seemingly endless pile of boxes that were delivered last week. I got there in the end and have only around 12 left unopened, most of which are ornaments and things from a shelf we don’t have room for anyway. I’ll try to consolidate them into fewer boxes and stick them away in the cellar and pretend they don’t exist for now.

Updated all my phone numbers and addresses. I am very glad for the spreadsheet of Important Things That Have My Address that I started keeping a few moves ago. Makes remembering which banks etc to talk to easier. It would be better to stop moving and needing such a thing, though.
Special shout out to Vanguard UK who, on paper, will let you keep your account if you move out of the UK but don’t support non-UK phone numbers, leaving how to manage the mandatory SMS/phone based 2FA they have up to you. Thanks.

I picked up Nanda and the kids from the airport on Sunday in a Mobility car, a kind of Swiss Zipcar thing. I really need to find a Dummies Guide to Driving in Zürich because it’s very confusing, what with trams and trolley buses and constant construction and so on.

Glad they’re back, though God only knows what kind of a night we’re in for tonight. See also why this was actually written at 00:30 on Monday.
